Google Play: [Android App](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yakkio.app)\n\n“Mom, I’m dropping out. I’m going full-time on TikTok.”\n\nThat’s what he told me, just like that. No warning, no build-up. Like he was switching classes, not walking away from college.\n\nHe’s not failing. He’s halfway through his second year. First in our family to go. His dad and I never did college. We’ve worked hard all our lives so he could. So when he told us he was ready to walk away, midway through his second year, I honestly thought he was joking.\n\nIt started with silly stuff, dorm jokes, roommate impressions, those little lip-sync things. I didn’t get most of it, but he was having fun. Then he shifted to something else: lacrosse. Of all things.\n\nHe played in high school, just the local public team, nothing special. Joined the club team at college too. I never followed the sport myself, it wasn’t a thing when I was growing up, and I still don’t really understand it. But he and his dad used to sit and watch the games together when they were on ESPN. That was their thing.\n\nNow, his videos are mostly about that. Short clips where he breaks down plays or gives his take on matches. Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes serious. He’s got a few thousand followers now, not massive, but not nothing either. Some of his clips have been passed around a bit, picked up in group chats or tagged by folks who follow the sport. He says it’s growing. He says he’s building something.\n\nI asked him what he’d do if TikTok actually got banned. He rolled his eyes. Said Trump always talks big, but never follows through. Said there’s no way they’d kill off an app that half the country’s addicted to. “It’ll keep going, just like always,” he told me. And that was that.\n\nBut there’s no money yet. No deals, no income. Just views. Just this feeling he has that if he doesn’t go all-in now, he’ll miss his chance.\n\nHe asked for my support. I didn’t know what to say. I still don’t.\n\nHe lights up when he talks about it. He’s focused, driven. I’ve never seen him like this, and I want to believe that matters. I want to believe I’m not standing in the way of something real.\n\nBut if I truly believed in it, if I was proud, I’d be sharing his channel right now. You’d know his name. But I’m not. I’m holding that back. Because deep down, I’m not sure yet if I should be proud… or just scared.\n\nSo I’ll ask the thing I can’t answer: Am I supposed to support this? Or stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life?\n\n\nDownload the Yakkio App:\nApp Store: [Apple App](https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/yakkio/id6752318783)\nGoogle Play: [Android App](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yakkio.app)","thumbnail_url":"https://yakkio.com/uploads/user_uploads/u_1766721330361_trh3utphv7q.webp","published":true,"created_at":"2025-11-12T09:28:33.495Z","updated_at":"2025-12-26T03:55:31.717Z","linked_topic_id":50,"manual_topic_slug":null,"linked_article_slug":null,"linked_topic_slug":"he-says-hes-dropping-out-for-tiktok","linked_topic_title":"He says he’s dropping out.
